What’s new in the Science book Curiosity? Quite a lot. Curiosity is built around inquiry and investigation rather than rote learning. It has 13 chapters covering Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and — appearing in Class 8 for the first time — Earth Science. Topics include matter, electricity, light, health and hygiene, and Earth’s processes. The entire book is designed around the idea that learning science means asking questions, not memorising answers.

What happened to Honeydew and It So Happened? Both have been replaced by a single integrated book called Poorvi. The shift isn’t just a name change — the focus has moved from simple comprehension questions to critical thinking, interpretation, and expression in your own words. Units are built around themes like wisdom, values, mystery, environment, and science.

What is the new Hindi book and how is it different? The new book is called Malhar (मल्हार) and it has 10 chapters. The older books — Vasant, Bharat ki Khoj, Durva, and Sanshipt Budhcharit — are no longer part of the syllabus.

What changed in Social Science? Previously, Class 8 had separate books for History (Our Pasts III), Geography (Resources and Development), and Civics (Social and Political Life III). All of that has now been merged into one integrated book — Exploring Society: India and Beyond Part 1 — with 7 chapters. History, Geography, Economics, and Political Science are woven together thematically rather than taught as separate subjects.

What about Sanskrit? The new Sanskrit book is called Deepakam (दीपकम्) and it has 13 lessons. It replaces the older Ruchira book.

Is Ganita Prakash one book or two? Two parts. Part 1 (7 chapters) and Part 2 (7 chapters) are both available. Check with your Maths teacher to confirm which parts your school will cover in exams this session.
